Google My Business is the best way to get free exposure for your business. It’s easy and quick, with just a few clicks of the mouse you can set up your company on Google Maps, complete with photos, location information, hours of operation, and more! You’ll also be able to respond to reviews left by customers so that they know you’re listening. All this will help grow your customer base and increase sales.

You can add photos, videos, and more detailed information about your company

As a business owner, you want to have the best online presence possible. This includes being able to add photos, videos, and information about your company on Google! One way that you can do this is by creating a profile for your company in Google My Business. You can use it as an online portfolio to display your work to attract customers. You can also link it to your companies website if you have one, list your business hours and have your business show up on business maps. Have you ever searched yourself from a customer’s perspective on Google? I challenge you to do so, you may be surprised.  If you are a restaurant owner, Google “restaurants near me” and see what results appear from the search.  Also, Google my business is a great place to collect reviews from prior customers.  This will help will give potential customers insight into your business.  You can also respond to reviews and interact with your client.

How do I create a Google My Business account?

To create a Google My Business account, simply go to this link for Google my Business to start the process.  Fill in the business information that you would like displayed to customers.  If you operate a home business, don’t worry.  You do not need to list your address for customers to see.  Once you get to the verification part, Google will send you a postcard in the mail with a verification code you will need to enter in before your site is on Google.  It takes 3-7 days to receive.  It took mine 4 days for my business, Ruby Web Marketing.  Once that is completed, you can upload your photos, logo, and videos.

Tips and tricks for getting the most out of this service

I recommend adding new photos periodically to your Google my Business profile.  I myself and a web designer and also assist businesses with their marketing efforts.  I therefore will add some new photos of my creations once a month- maybe 2 to 3.  You will get emails from Google about how your new pictures are getting views, which is inspiring.  Also, I do not upload everything I create.   I choose photos and videos that will make my brand look good and stand out.

Final thoughts on how this tool can help businesses succeed in their marketing efforts:

I believe getting my own business on Google was the best thing I could have done.  I have received hundreds of views on my photos, videos and customers have reached out to me due to my listing.  Also, it gives my web design business a professional appearance which is essential for any business.  These days, people Google everything. When someone Googles web designers near me, I will appear at the top in our geographical area.  This is especially important for any service industry.  Facebook alone is not enough for an online presence.  Best of all, Google My Business is free!
